The SmartClass Home v3 is a handheld inside-wiring and networks service meter from the Acterna/JDSU test family — a model VIAVI has since discontinued — built for technicians who install and troubleshoot triple-play voice, video, and data services at the customer premises. A built-in Broadcom modem syncs ADSL through VDSL2 over single or bonded pairs to prove the rates a subscriber's drop can actually carry, while HPNA Spectral Mode B testing verifies node-to-node performance on live home networks. For the physical plant it adds FDR-based coax mapping with Active IDs that read through splitters, a Noise Immunity Test for shield ingress, Cat3-Cat6 wire mapping and toning, a built-in POTS butt-set with speakerphone, 10/100 Ethernet checks, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi scanning, and one-button CableCheck copper tests, with results saved to CSV for export over USB.
